Dr. Helen Morris

Dr. Helen O´Neill Morris is a meaningful example for those pursuing Continuing Education Programs. The mother of seven children (now grown) did not begin her college career until her youngest children were in elementary school. She then scheduled classes only at times they were in school.

Helen earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees at Temple before the family moved from Philadelphia to Camp Hill, in the Harrisburg area. She then went to work as a staff member assigned to Psychiatric Services in the Social Service Department of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lebanon, Pa.

Five years later, she became the Director of Social Services for Holy Spirit Hospital with a staff of eight professional social workers.

Helen completed her doctorate while employed full time in 1988. In 1990 Dr. Morris accepted the position of Administrator and adjunct faculty member for the social work program at Temple University´s Harrisburg Campus.

Dr. Morris is a past president of the Hospital Social Workers Association and of the Central Pennsylvania Society of Social Workers, and recipient of numerous awards. She has also been a member of the State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors. In addition, Dr. Morris in more than 20 years of private practice, has counseled hundreds of families, couples and individuals.

Dr. Helen O´Neill Morris is now in her well-earned retirement. She lives in Camp Hill with her husband of 60 years.
