Biography

Biosketch

Nannette is a Clinical Instructor and serves as the Undergraduate Coordinator and Internship Coordinator for the Therapeutic Recreation program within the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences. She joined Temple University's Therapeutic Recreation staff full time in 2006 as Manager of Student Services and Clinical Instructor. Nannette has 10 years of experience as a therapeutic recreation practitioner, with a focus on spinal cord injury rehabilitation, general rehabilitation, and social skills/life skills training for individuals with developmental disabilities. Nannette is currently leading the TR program's implementation plan for incorporating iPad technology into classroom instruction and practical application for recreation therapy treatment.

Professional Involvement:

Nannette is actively involved in both national and local professional organizations for Therapeutic Recreation as well as organizations serving individuals with disabilities . She currently is a member of the Recreation Committee for the Mayor’s Commission for Individuals with Disabilities and is the program coordinator for the Therapeutic Recreation Program's Recreation Equipment Lending Library. She has most recently served on the Task Force Committee and Test Specifications Committee, as well as the Item Writing Committee for the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification. She also is the past Treasurer for the NJ/Eastern Pennsylvania TR Association. Nannette has been a frequent presenter at both national and local conferences and served on the planning committee for the 2003 ATRA Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

Nannette was most recently awarded a grant in 2011 from the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation, which provided funding for the development of an Assistive Technology for Inclusive Recreation lending library.
