The Department of Physical Therapy would like to welcome Dr. Andrew Yannaccone to the our team! Dr. Yannaccone will be primarily involved in teaching the Human Physiology, Clinical Examination and Intervention Skills, Movement Science sequence, among others!

Temple Health Fair 2012
The Temple Faculty Physical Therapy Clinic along with Employee Health Services were present at the 2012 Temple University Job Fair yesterday. Approximately 200-250 people stopped by the table to ask questions about physical therapy, medical services and have their blood pressure taken.

$1.26 million award for cerebral palsy research
Faculty from CHPSW's Department of Physical Therapy, Department of Public Health, and Biostatistical Research Support Center received a $1.26 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (National Institute of Child Health & Human Development) for a study titled “Balance and Posture in Adults with Cerebral Palsy”.
While cerebral palsy (CP) is generally thought of as a childhood disorder, the majority of the 1 million individuals with CP in the US reach a full life expectancy. Richard Lauer, PhD, assistant professor and principal investigator of the project, Emily Keshner, PT. EdD, professor, Carole Tucker, PT. PhD, associate professor from the Department of Physical Therapy, and Adam Davey, PhD, associate professor from the Department of Public Health, will examine postural control strategies in adults with CP to gain insight for future development of clinical and rehabilitation techniques aimed at improving functional balance and fall reduction.
Temple DPT Student Association serving the community
The Temple University DPT Student Association is participating in the the Olney Charter Community Day 2012 will take place on February 25th, 2012 from 10am-4pm.
This event is to revitalize Olney Charter High School's fitness room and provide Olney Charter's 1600 students with a safe place to exercise and to promote health and fitness. On the 25th, our volunteers will be removing any equipment that is in disrepair, cleaning the room, painting, and populating the room with new or gently used exercise equipment. Additionally, we will be working with Olney's special education department and serving as mentors for the day to some current Olney students with special needs and helping them to give back to their community as well.
Temple DPT students storm Chicago!
In early February 2012, over 40 DPT students attended the American Physical Therapy Association's Combined Section Meeting in Chicago, IL. This is the most students attending a national conference in the recent Temple DPT history!
Dr. Mary Sinnott will provide Acute Care Lectureship at CSM in February!
Dr. Mary Sinnott has selected for the prestigious honor of presenting the Acute Care Section Lectureship at Combined Sections Meeting in Chicago, IL in early February! Congratulations to Mary and if you are in attendance, please don't miss this event!
Temple DPT students honor MLK
To honor Martin Luther King Day on February 16th, 2012, several Temple Doctor of Physical Therapy students participated in the MLK Day of Service at Girard College. During the event, the students spoke with patrons regarding regarding access to physical therapy services, postural education and the role of physical therapists in healthcare.
Back on My Feet
Doctor of Physical Therapy students performed neuromusculoskeletal screenings for participants on the Back on My Feet organization.
