Guiding the leaders of tomorrow

Physical therapists examine, evaluate, and treat patients who have conditions that affect their ability to move freely and without pain.

The impact of an aging population, obesity epidemic, and an increasing importance on evidence-based medicine shines a spotlight on the need for highly trained physical therapy practitioners who will develop knowledge and interventions and provide advanced treatment to improve patients’ overall well-being, no matter what physical challenges they face.

Our College is dedicated to helping students become the practitioner of choice for neuro-musculoskeletal disorders by engaging in life-long learning, using the current best evidence to guide decision-making, and becoming the next generation of leaders within the profession.

What makes us distinct:
  • Our evolving curriculum is based on comprehensive and current research as well as evidence-based methodology.
  • We have strong inter-professional collaboration and relationships among faculty and students across the university and with our clinical partners.
  • Our Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)
  • Our faculty have clinical certifications and/or federally funded research laboratories that enhance our program.

Our state-of-the art resources include:

  • Clinical Simulation Laboratory—Hardwired mannequins allow students to practice physiological monitoring.
  • Health Sciences Library—Located in the Medical Education and Research Building
  • Our Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency is a one-of-a-kind post-professional, distance learning program that significantly advances physical therapists' preparedness to become providers of patient care services in a defined area of clinical practice.
