Graduate Program Overview

Temple University College of Health Professions and Social Work Department of Nursing currently offers both a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Program and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program. 

Master of Science in Nursing Program

The MSN Program has two concentrations: the Nurse Educator and the Clinical Nurse Leader. 

•    Nurse Educator Concentration

The Nurse Educator Concentration prepares graduates to teach nursing across diverse settings.  This is a 39-credit concentration. 

•    Clinical Nurse Leader Concentration

The Clinical Nurse Leader Concentration prepares graduates to positively impact client health outcomes, particularly in urban environments.  This is a 40-credit concentration.

Clinical Nurse Leader and Nurse Educator Concentrations is Fall, 2012.

will be accepted for Spring, 2013, and beyond. **


Doctor of Nursing Practice Program

The DNP Program has two concentrations: the Post-BSN and the Post-MSN for advanced practice registered nurses. 

            •    Post-BSN DNP Concentration

The Post-BSN Concentration prepares graduates as primary care providers in one of two emphases.  The Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Concentration is a 58-credit curriculum that prepares graduates to provide primary care to all adults, including the elderly.   The Family-Individual Across Lifespan Concentration is a 62-credit curriculum that prepare graduates to provide primary care to all age groups, from infants to the elderly. 

•    Post-MSN DNP Concentration for Advanced Practice Nurses

The Post-MSN Concentration is tailored to the needs of certified, advanced practice nurses, including nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, certified nurse midwives, and certified registered nurse anesthetists.  This 30-credit curriculum provides certified advanced practice registered nurses with the toolkit necessary for engaging in evidence-based, scholarly clinical practice.
