Does Temple University offer a Coding program?

Although many of the courses in our undergraduate health information management (HIM) program are similar to those offered in medical coding programs, we do not offer a coding program/coding certificate Our undergraduate degree prepares students for a wide variety of jobs such as those related to EHR implementation as well as coding-related positions.  Examples of coding related positions that graduates of the bachelor’s program hold include:  inpatient coder, coding consultant, coding auditor and compliance officer.  The nature of the coursework and the positions for which coding programs prepare students vary widely.  Some programs focus more on medical billing while others focus more heavily on clinical medicine and coding skills.  Coding certificate programs that focus on clinical medicine and coding skills  typically consist of approximately 10 courses (30 credits).

Temple does not recommend or endorse any specific programs.  We offer this information for your benefit only.
