Tax Site Information

As a part of the School of Social Work under the College of Health Professions and Social Work, the Center for Social Policy and Community Development serves as a bridge between the social concerns of the community and the academic and service goals of Temple University. The Center provides social services to disadvantaged populations, trains professionals and community leaders, and contributes to research on important public issues.

As part of its services, CSPCD hosts the North Philadelphia Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.   This year, the North Philadelphia VITA site will run from January 24, 2012 through April 17, 2012.  The public hours are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. and on Saturdays from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. The VITA site will operate out of Ritter Hall Annex, 1301 Cecil B. Moore Avenue (northwest corner of 13th Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue).

We invite and welcome the community and Temple staff and students to use these valuable VITA services, which are being operated by the Campaign for Working Families. Please note that there are income eligibility requirements. Families with income less than $50,000 or individuals with income less than $20,000 can benefit from the free tax filing services, and can learn more about financial savings options.   Services are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis, and due to the high volume of interest, some people may be turned away -- so your patience is greatly appreciated.

For more information about other free tax preparation sites and what to bring, please visit the website for the Campaign for Working Families.
