Several departments in CHPSW sponsor clinical and community health services which provide both faculty and their supervised students with opportunities to practice their specialties.

Physical Therapy Practice Clinic

Sponsored by the Department of Physical Therapy, the Physical Therapy Practice Clinic is managed and operated by PT faculty who practice evidenced-based physical therapy techniques including manual therapy and exercise to assist individuals in their return to function.  Several of the physical therapists hold advanced certifications including Board Certifications in Orthopaedics and Neurologic Disorders as well as advanced manual therapy certifications.  Treatment is available for a variety of conditions including low back pain, neck pain, shoulder disorders, neurologic disorders and post-surgical rehabilitation.  Clinics are located on both Main and Health Sciences campuses.  Appointments can be made by calling 215-707-7049.

Temple University Speech-Language-Hearing Center

Sponsored by the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, theTemple University Speech-Language-Hearing Center (TUSLHC) is a clinical component of the graduate program in speech-language pathology.  A wide range of services is provided to people of all ages with disorders of communication. Graduate clinicians provide services under the direct supervision of the Temple faculty who hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and Pennsylvania licensure in Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology.  The Center is located in Weiss Hall on the main campus and is open weekdays from 8:30 am – 5 pm.  Appointments can be made by calling 215-204-7543.

 Health-Fitness and Wellness Center

Sponsored by the Department of Kinesiology, the Health-Fitness and Wellness Center promotes health and fitness through the use of physical activity, exercise, education and counseling services for faculty and staff of the University.  The Center contains a wide range of exercise equipment for “complete” workout.  Fee-based fitness testing and personal training is available.  The Center is located on main campus in the newly renovated Pearson Hall.  Appointments can be made by calling (215) 204-3660.

Temple Health Connection

Sponsored by the Department of Nursing, the Temple Health Connection is a nurse-managed, community based wellness center offering a variety of services to children, teens and adults living in an adjacent neighborhood. Under the supervision of nursing faculty and other community health practitioners, students assist in delivering environmental health education programs, after-school tutoring and summer camps, women’s health and other health specialized health promotion programs for teens and seniors.  For more information please call (215) 707-5436 or (215) 707-1707

Active Living for Persons with Aphasia

Sponsored by the Therapeutic Recreation Program in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, Active Living with Aphasia is a community support program for adults with aphasia.  The program offers participants varied opportunities to practice communication skills while engaged in meaningful socially active recreation.  The group meets weekly and is facilitated by therapeutic recreation students under the supervision of faculty.  For more information please call Dr. Susanne Lesnik-Emas at 215-204-6817
