Kinesiology Department settling into new home
Temple’s Pearson and McGonigle Halls, partially closed by construction for the last three semesters, will soon be fully accessible to students and faculty. The $58 million renovation is scheduled for completion in March 2012, bringing an additional 140,000 square feet of academic classrooms, athletic practice space, and a rock climbing wall to Main Campus.
The Pearson McGonigle complex is home to the university’s Department of Kinesiology. A new complex has been built for department faculty, administrative staff, and the student services office. In addition, six labs and four classrooms have been updated during construction.
Department faculty moved into their new offices on the second floor in December 2011. “The renovations are providing new space that is facilitative for faculty and staff morale,” says Dr. Michael Sachs, Department of Kinesiology Chair.
As the building nears completion, students and staff from all departments are invited to come see the additions. “We expect to have a grand opening this fall,” says Dr. Sachs
