Entire social work class presents at Research Day
The entire class of 21 students enrolled in Social Work Research Methods II, taught by Professor Theresa White, MSW, MPH, at the Ambler Campus, applied and were selected to present their year-long, IRB-approved research projects during the CHPSW Research Day.

Research Methods II is the second in a sequence of courses that takes MSW students through the research process, from generating a literature review to formulating a hypothesis to gathering and analyzing data.
Students are introduced to the idea of research as a career path and are required to submit their resulting abstracts for consideration to present at the Poster Session.
Research topics of this year’s class include topics and populations of interest to the social work community, including foster children, survivors of intimate partner violence, the LGBT community, cancer survivors, homeless teens, gang activity, autism, caregiver and occupational stress, individuals with mental illness, and individuals with drug and alcohol addictions.

Many students will be going on to work in the Philadelphia area in agencies such as Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA), Gilda’s Club, CORA Services, JEVS, the Trenton School System, Covenant House, Aldie Counseling and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
