Catherine Coyle, Ph.D., CTRS
Interim Dean of the College of Health Professions and Social Work
Catherine Coyle was appointed Interim Dean of the College of Health Professions and Social Work (CHPSW) on May 1, 2013. Previously, she served as the Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs in CHPSW and a Program Director in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at Temple.
A well regarded author with numerous publications to her credit, she has written two textbooks used in the educational preparation of recreation therapists and her work has appeared in numerous academic journals including Journal of Rehabilitation, Health Promotion International, Journal of Applied Gerontology, Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Disability and Rehabilitation. Additionally, her research has been cited in the Surgeon General’s Call to Action to Improve the Health and Wellness of Persons with Disabilities (2005).
She was inducted as an Associate Fellow into the National Academy of Recreation Therapists in 2011 and has served on the Exam Management Committee for the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification for nine years (1994-2000, 2009-2011), receiving a recognition award for exceptional service from the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation in 2011.
